Delbarton Fundraising Letter

May 15, 2012 | All, Fundraising

I must admit to you this year I contemplated my decision to give to Delbarton considering the allegations our school has faced in the past several months. I found the allegations disappointing, disheartening and an embarrassment. I hope the legal process unearths the truth and punishes the guilty accordingly. – Jim Gallombardo ‘81

Delbarton Fundraising Letter

Dear Fellow Delbarton Classmates,

I hope this email finds you well.

It is that time of year again where we are being asked to support our alma mater with a contribution to this year’s Delbarton Fund. Please consider making your gift before June 30th which is the close of the 2012 Fund and Delbarton’s fiscal year.

A letter requesting a donation to Delbarton would surely be easier to send to you in better times, better economically as well as a school community. I must admit to you this year I contemplated my decision to give to Delbarton considering the allegations our school has faced in the past several months. I found the allegations disappointing, disheartening and an embarrassment. I hope the legal process unearths the truth and punishes the guilty accordingly.

After reflection, I chose to give to Delbarton this year simply because it is the right thing to do. I trust Delbarton will use our donations to the Fund to help those qualified students in need obtain the same Delbarton education we received, if not better. I trust Delbarton to be transparent to its alumni, to hold this trust sacred and not betray it.

Frankly, I never thought our motto “Succisa Virescit” would apply to Delbarton itself, but indeed it does. It is incumbent upon us to see that our school grows back stronger.

This year, as part of the “Succisa Virescit” challenge, Delbarton Trustees will match 2:1 any amount you donate above the amount you donated last year. For more information, including a message from Brother Paul and an easy method to donate online, please visit http://www.delbarton.org/flashcard/svc.html.

Thank you to the following classmates who have donated as of May 9th: Dan Chambers, Pat Collins, Chris Connors, Mike Criscito, Carmine Galdieri, Tony Heaton, Eric Kainer, Kurt Krauss, John McHugh and Steve Verdesca.

Sincerely,

Jim Gallombardo ‘81
