An avid long distance runner, Father Drew taught mathematics and coached track at Delbarton School here before beginning his theological studies. On April 15, Father Drew celebrated Mass for the first time in the Abbey Church, here with the Morris Choral Society, under the direction of Wayne Walters, singing.

Bishop ordains Benedictine to priesthood

Bishop Serratelli ordained Eamon Henry Drew to the priesthood April 14 St. Mary’s Abbey Church here.

Father Drew pursued theological studies in preparation for this day at St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn., and Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University, South Orange. The new Benedictine priest was raised in Spring Lake Heights. In 1994, he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and mathematics from Rider University, Lawrenceville, and after graduation taught at Msgr. Donovan High School before joining the Benedictine order in 1997. He was clothed as a novice in 1998 and made his first profession of monastic vows on March 20, 1999.

Father Drew will teach at Delbarton School here, and assist on weekends at Our Lady of the Mount Parish, Warren.
