Abbot Giles Hayes, OSB, President-Elect of CMSM

Sep 7, 2010 | All, CMSM, Giles Hayes

Right Rev. Giles P. Hayes, OSB, Abbot of St. Mary’s Abbey, Morristown, has recently been named President-Elect of the national Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM).

The Conference, representing more than 19,000 religious brothers and priests in the U.S., offers resources and support for the leadership of Men’s Institutes and promotes dialogue/collaboration on religious life issues and peace/justice issues with other significant groups in the Church and society. We congratulate Abbot Giles on his new, prestigious role in furthering the goals of consecrated life in our nation. When he succeeds to the office of President at next year’s Assembly, Abbot Giles becomes only the second member of a monastic order to serve in that capacity since the inception of the Conference in 1956.
